Butterfly Corporate Karisma Festival '24 & '22

Article

The Butterfly Corporate Karisma Festival sheds light on the success-critical phenomenon of corporate culture from a wide range of perspectives, bringing together organizational development, leadership, and creative design and paving the way for a holistic, interdisciplinary Employee Experience Design.

We at The Culture Institute were part of it in both 2024 and 2022. Here’s a brief look back:

2024

As part of the 24butterfly Corporate Karisma Festival, Ernst Demmel and Simon Sagmeister held a stage discussion on cultural development. Among the key insights were:
✅ Cultural development needs a clear goal
✅ Organizations cannot “give” their employees meaning
✅ Top-down isn’t enough for cultural change – but bottom-up alone isn’t either
✅ Focus on those who are willing (involve everyone initially, then support those who lead the way)
✅ Culture hacks are at least as important as large-scale initiatives
✅ …and when there is a shared foundation of values, a little anarchy is welcome too

Another highlight was Eva’s workshop “My Colors”, which made it tangible how leaders can individually shape corporate culture.
You can read Eva’s interview on the topic “Many leaders are not aware of the impact they have – or could have!” here.

2022

Simon Sagmeister gave a talk on “Are We Still on the Right Track? Making Corporate Culture Visible.”
